LSE’s campus is a tight cluster of buildings around Houghton Street, between Aldwych and Lincoln’s Inn Fields, with Holborn as the nearest tube. Living within walking distance mostly comes down to budget, because the streets around it are some of the priciest in London.
We have one residence within about 20 minutes and several more about 40 minutes away on a single tube line. These times come from the TfL journey planner for a weekday morning, door to door.
About 20 minutes: Bloomsbury
Our Bloomsbury residence on Guilford Street is about 20 minutes from Houghton Street, walking or by bus down through Holborn. It’s two Victorian townhouses with single en-suites, double en-suites and twins, each with a private shower and toilet. It’s also close to Senate House library and King’s Cross St Pancras.
Straight down the Central line: Notting Hill, Hyde Park and North Acton
Holborn is on the Central line, so these residences take about 40 minutes with no changes.
The Notting Hill residence is about 39 minutes from LSE. It’s hostel-style, with single, twin, triple and dorm rooms sharing bathrooms, plus a gym and a cinema room. Our Notting Hill guide covers the neighbourhood.
The Hyde Park residence, near Lancaster Gate station, is also about 39 minutes. It’s a catered Georgian townhouse with breakfast and a three-course dinner every day, and most rooms share a bathroom on the floor.
The North Acton residence is right opposite North Acton station, about 40 minutes from LSE. The rooms are single en-suites in shared flats with a big kitchen.
Camden and North Camden
The Camden residence and the North Camden residence are both about 37 to 38 minutes away. Both are studio buildings with your own bathroom and kitchenette.
Summer school and short stays
LSE’s summer school brings in a lot of students for a few weeks each year. Short stays are fine with us, so you can book for the length of your course.
How to apply
You can apply for free, and you can still say no once you see the offer. Give us your dates, and we’ll check with the residence and normally reply the same working day with the room, the weekly rate and the total. How booking works explains payment and contracts.
The cards below show today’s weekly prices. If a room is fully booked, it’s still worth asking, because we can try other dates.
