King’s College London is spread over five campuses, and the one your course uses matters more than anything else when you choose a room. The Strand campus (including Bush House) and the Waterloo campus face each other across the river in central London. Guy’s is by London Bridge, St Thomas’ is opposite the Houses of Parliament, and Denmark Hill is out in Camberwell.
All our rooms are north of the river, so this page is mostly about the Strand and Waterloo. The journey times come from the TfL journey planner for a weekday morning, door to door.
Closest to the Strand: Bloomsbury
Our Bloomsbury residence on Guilford Street is about 21 minutes from the Strand campus: a short walk to the main road, then one bus down through Holborn to Aldwych. Waterloo is about 26 minutes on the same bus, which carries on over Waterloo Bridge. On a dry day you can walk it in under half an hour.
The building is two Victorian townhouses with single en-suites, double en-suites and twin rooms, each with its own shower and toilet. If you’re on a health course, Bloomsbury is also our best option for Guy’s (about 34 minutes) and Denmark Hill (about 38, partly by train).
Your own studio: North Camden and Camden
The North Camden residence is about 35 minutes from the Strand, most of it on the Northern line. The Camden residence near Chalk Farm takes about 37 minutes on a single bus. It’s slower than the tube, but you’ll usually get a seat and you won’t have to change.
Both are studio buildings, so you get a private bathroom and kitchenette. North Camden is the bigger and more sociable of the two, with a café and lounges, and it has an accessible studio for wheelchair users. Camden is smaller and closer to the markets. Our guide to Camden student accommodation says more about the area.
On the Circle line: Notting Hill
The Notting Hill residence is about 37 minutes from the Strand. You take the Circle line from Notting Hill Gate into town and walk the last stretch. It’s hostel-style, with single, twin, triple and dorm rooms that share bathrooms. That suits a summer course or a tight budget better than three years of a degree.
Guy’s, St Thomas’ and Denmark Hill
If your teaching is mostly at the health campuses south of the river, none of our rooms are close. Bloomsbury is the nearest, and everything else takes 40 minutes or more. Tell us your campus when you apply and we’ll say straight away whether anything we have makes sense.
How to apply
Applying is free and doesn’t commit you to anything. Put your campus on the form along with your dates. We check with the residence and usually reply the same working day with the room, the weekly rate and the total for your stay. Stays can be as short as a few weeks, which helps if you’re on a pre-sessional course or arriving before your main accommodation is ready. How booking works covers contracts and payment.
The cards below show each residence’s current weekly price. Prices move during the year, so use them as a guide and we’ll confirm the exact figure.
