University of the Arts London isn’t one campus. It’s six colleges spread across the city, at King’s Cross, Elephant and Castle, Millbank, Camberwell, Stratford and Wimbledon. A room that’s ideal for one college can be an hour from another, so start with where you’ll actually be working.
Most of our rooms are in north and central London. That makes them a good fit for Central Saint Martins and a reasonable one for London College of Communication. All the times below come from the TfL journey planner for a weekday morning, door to door.
Central Saint Martins
CSM is in Granary Square, just north of King’s Cross station.
From the Bloomsbury residence on Guilford Street it’s about 17 minutes by bus, or a little over 20 on foot. The rooms are single en-suites, double en-suites and twins in two Victorian townhouses.
The Camden residence near Chalk Farm is about 21 minutes away on one bus. Every room is a studio with a kitchenette, which you’ll appreciate when you get back late from the studio and don’t want to queue for a shared kitchen. Camden suits art students well: markets, music venues, and the Regent’s Canal towpath, which takes you all the way to King’s Cross.
The North Camden residence is about 30 minutes away. It has an accessible studio, premium studios with bunk beds for sharing, and a café and lounges downstairs.
Further out, the Walthamstow residence is about 34 minutes. The Victoria line runs straight from Blackhorse Road to King’s Cross, then it’s a walk up to Granary Square. Rooms are single en-suites with a ¾ double bed, and the rent is usually lower than in Camden or Bloomsbury. Our King’s Cross guide covers the area around the college.
London College of Communication
LCC is at Elephant and Castle. Bloomsbury is our closest option, at about 30 minutes, partly by train. Everything else we have takes 40 minutes or more.
Chelsea, Camberwell, Fashion and Wimbledon
Chelsea College of Arts, next to Tate Britain at Millbank, is about 38 minutes from Notting Hill and about 40 from our Camden rooms. Camberwell is around 45 minutes from Bloomsbury. London College of Fashion has moved to East Bank in Stratford, which is about 40 minutes from Bloomsbury or Camden. Wimbledon College of Arts is a long way from everything we have.
If you’re at one of these colleges, tell us when you apply and we’ll be honest about whether we can help.
Applying
Applying costs nothing and doesn’t tie you to anything. Give us your dates and your college. We check availability with the residence and usually reply the same working day with the room, the weekly rate and the total. UAL runs plenty of short courses and summer programmes, and stays of a few weeks are fine with us. How booking works explains payment and contracts.
The cards below show current weekly prices. If the one you want is fully booked, ask anyway, because we can check other dates.
