Student Accommodation Near SOAS | UK Student Residences

SOAS is on Thornhaugh Street, at the north corner of Russell Square, among the University of London’s Bloomsbury buildings. Senate House library is next door, and so are UCL and Birkbeck. It’s a lovely part of London to study in and a hard one to find a room in, because three universities’ worth of students are after the same few streets.

This is what we can offer, with door-to-door times from the TfL journey planner for a weekday morning.

Walk to class: Bloomsbury

Our Bloomsbury residence on Guilford Street is about 15 minutes’ walk from SOAS, mostly across Russell Square. You won’t need a bus, the tube or a travel card. The residence is two Victorian townhouses with single en-suites, double en-suites and twin rooms, each with its own shower and toilet, and a shared kitchen.

The Brunswick Centre, with a supermarket and a cinema, is a few minutes away, and King’s Cross St Pancras is close enough to walk to when you’re heading out of London.

A studio of your own: Camden

The Camden residence near Chalk Farm is about 24 minutes from SOAS on one bus. All the rooms are studios with a private bathroom and kitchenette, in single and twin/double sizes. Our guide to Camden student accommodation covers the markets, the food and getting around.

Bigger and busier: North Camden

The North Camden residence is about 33 minutes away, on the Northern line and then a walk through Bloomsbury. It’s a large building with a café and lounges, so you’ll meet people from other universities. Rooms are en-suite studios with a kitchenette, and there’s an accessible studio and suites with a spare room.

Short courses and summer study

SOAS runs language courses and summer programmes as well as full degrees. Stays of a few weeks are fine with us, so you can book for the length of the course, not the academic year.

Applying is free and you’re not committing to anything. Send us your dates and course. We check with the residence and normally reply the same working day with the room, the weekly rate and the total. How booking works explains payment and contracts.
