This residence is set in Bayswater which is a bustling cosmopolitan area of West London. It is home to Whiteleys (which happens to be London’s first department store), many restaurants (particularly of Chinese and Middle Eastern cuisine), café’s, pubs and a few high-street retail chains.
A must to visit in terms of food would be the Royal China restaurant. This is a chain of restaurants which all have incredibly high standards of food preparation and service; you are guaranteed a first class meal when you visit. The Bayswater restaurant of Royal China specialises in Dim Sum, and it remains the best in London, if not in Europe. On weekends you will find the queues start to form well before opening, but the wait is definitely worthwhile for the superb food on offer.
If you possibly need to burn off all of the Dim Sum consumed at Royal China, then a walk in Kensington Gardens will be one of the most calming things you will do. One of eight of the Royal Parks, George the Second’s wife, Queen Caroline, engineered the introduction of water to the park by channelling a stream to create the Long Water and Serpentine. Public use of the park was banned in the 18th Century and only introduce years later to ‘respectably dressed folk’. Nowadays you can find anything from formally dressed horse-riders to scantily dressed sunbathers – everyone is welcomed. This is one of the most colourful, dynamic and fascinating green spaces in London, with a complement of events including free guided walks, concerts, workshops and entertainments which complete the picture.
If it is something active you want to do then you will definitely want to visit the Queens Skate, Dine, Bowl where you will find a huge indoor ice rink, 12 bowling lanes, plenty of retro arcade machines and a British diner by the well-known MEATliquor. This venue has been entertaining Londoners since the 1930s and underwent a massive refurbishment at the end of 2016. With an interior that pays homage to ice skaters and bowling lovers of decades gone by, this place is 45,000 square feet of pure entertainment. Two bars have been designed as well in an industrial, British-retro style, with pool tables, fruit machines, table football and dart boards at the ready (just do not forget the assignments that may be building up at your desk whilst you are here!)
Located in a classic London townhouse, this residence comes with a communal area which is a great place to catch up on your daytime/evening television or a study room in order to get a change of scenery from doing assignments or revision in your bedroom. You can enjoy super-speedy Wi-Fi on seven devices (should you be lucky enough to own seven), throughout the whole residence.
As well as not having to worry about any extra costs of the Wi-Fi (unless of course, you own MORE than seven devices), rest assured that all utility bills such as water and electricity are all included in the price of the rent, as well as contents insurance – so you do not have to worry about any of your items whilst you are residing here. Not only that, but there is a weekly room clean included in the cost of your room – really making this a home away from home.
For those of you who just can’t get enough from the bowling and skating that is available to you in Bayswater, you will find an onsite gym exclusive to all residents within the building. You will find a selection of fitness machines such as treadmills, rowers and weight sections. So feel free to burn off the continental and three-course evening meal which is included in your stay!
There is a laundry room on-site for everyone who likes to keep their clothes fresh and clean on a regular basis, where you will find both washer and dryers for a fraction of a price to what it would be outside the residence. It does not matter what time of the day or night it is, you can access the laundry room whenever you like to wash your clothes. If you do happen to be having a last minute laundry day as your pyjamas are the only clean item you have and you find yourself short of washing powder, do not despair as the friendly bilingual reception team will have some to hand at any time of the day or night.
