King’s Cross Student Accommodation: The Closest Rooms You Can Book

Rooms a 15-minute walk from King's Cross in Bloomsbury, plus Camden studios one bus away and a direct Victoria line from Walthamstow. Real journey times to CSM.

See rooms How booking works

King’s Cross is one of the most searched-for student areas in London, and it’s easy to see why. Central Saint Martins is at Granary Square, UCL, SOAS and Birkbeck are a short walk south, and King’s Cross St Pancras has six tube lines plus Eurostar.

The catch is that rooms in King’s Cross itself are in short supply. The big halls next to the station fill early, and the King’s Cross residences you may have seen on our site are fully booked at the moment. So this page is about the closest rooms we can offer you now, with real journey times from the TfL journey planner for a weekday morning, door to door.

Bloomsbury: walking distance

Our Bloomsbury residence on Guilford Street is about a kilometre from King’s Cross St Pancras. It’s roughly a 15-minute walk, or 11 minutes on the 46 bus. Central Saint Martins is about 17 minutes away.

The rooms are single en-suites, double en-suites and twins, each with a private shower and toilet, in two Victorian townhouses with high ceilings and big sash windows. Residents share a modern kitchen. If you’re at UCL as well, our page on student accommodation near UCL has the journey times from here.

Camden, one bus away

The Camden residence near Chalk Farm is about 17 minutes from King’s Cross St Pancras on a single bus, and about 21 minutes from Central Saint Martins. Every room is a studio with its own bathroom and kitchenette, in single and twin/double sizes, so there’s no kitchen to share.

North Camden: a bit further, with more going on

The North Camden residence is about 26 minutes from the station and 30 from Central Saint Martins by bus. It’s the liveliest building of the four, with a café and lounges downstairs. The rooms are en-suite studios with a kitchenette, including an accessible studio, a premium studio with bunk beds for sharing and suites with a spare room.

Straight down the Victoria line from Walthamstow

From our Walthamstow residence, the Victoria line runs from Blackhorse Road to King’s Cross St Pancras in 13 minutes without a change. Door to door it’s about 26 minutes to the station and 34 to Central Saint Martins. The rooms are large single en-suites of around 13 to 16 m², with a ¾ double bed.

Arriving at St Pancras

If you’re coming to London on the Eurostar, you arrive at St Pancras International. From there the Bloomsbury residence is a short walk or bus ride, even with a suitcase, and the Victoria line takes you straight to Walthamstow. It’s a good reason to choose one of these two for a short stay.

Living around King’s Cross

Even if you live a few stops away, you’ll probably spend a lot of time here. Granary Square and Coal Drops Yard have places to eat and sit outside, the Regent’s Canal towpath runs east and west from the station, and the British Library is next door to St Pancras. Our King’s Cross location guide has more on the area.

How to apply

It’s free to apply and you’re not committing to anything. Tell us your dates and where you’ll be studying. We check those dates with the residence and usually reply the same working day with the weekly rate and the total for your stay. Stays can be as short as a few weeks. How booking works explains payment and contracts.

Each residence page shows the current weekly rate, since prices change through the year. If the one you want is fully booked for your dates, ask us anyway and we’ll suggest the next closest option.
