Residences: a great accommodation for students in London

You are looking for a place to stay in London for the start of the school year not too expensive and that allows you to meet people? Student residences could be the solution for you!

What is a residence?

Residences are large, modern buildings and usually have some great onsite facilities such as gyms, coffee shops, social areas and laundries. The majority of the residences are located in zone 1, with others being in zone 2, and usually close to underground stations. The budget is generally between £250 and £450 per week.

Why choose a residence?

The major advantage student residences have over the other accommodation options is the location, since they are usually located in Zone 1. There are modern buildings with on-site facilities and the rooms are usually a bit smaller than you would find in a house share or homestay but are compact and often en-suite. Finally, it’s a great way to make friends with other students.

What are the room types?

Here are the main types of residence rooms according to us:

Single room (shared bathroom) – This is a single bedroom, usually in a cluster apartment, where you have your own bedroom but share the common areas with other students living in the apartment.

Twin/multiple room (shared bathroom) – This is similar to the single room with shared bathroom with the difference being the room has its own en-suite bathroom and toilet.

A single en suite studio – Studios are larger than single rooms and often contain a kitchenette which means you can cook in your room. As these rooms are larger, there is usually more space for storage and can often include luxury items such as flat screen TV (subject to the studio booked).

Twin studios – These are the big brother of the single studios and contain many of the same features, except are even larger and contain two single beds. This is an ideal option if you are coming with a friend as the price is often per room and not per person.
