London’s best parks: activities for the sunny days

The sunny days are here, it’s time to take the sun in a beautiful park or just take a cool nap under some trees. But where to go?

Here are some of the main parks in London (but not all since they are numerous):

– Hyde Park: one of the largest of London’s Royal Parks. You can take a nice walk, eat a nice picnic, go around on a bicycle, swim in the Serpentine, rent a boat or a pedalo. Hyde Park is known for high-profile gigs and events, you can check before going.

♥ If you are staying in our Notting Hill residence, this park is just a short walk away.

– Hampstead Heath: this park has stunning views over the city, and offers many activities: you can go swimming in one of the ponds, visit the zoo, run on the athletics tracks (but don’t forget to drink a lot with the heat), or play on one of the sport fields (rugby, football, tennis, cricket).

♥ If you are staying in our Belsize Park residence, this park is just a short walk away.

– Regent’s Park: one of London’s most beautiful parks. You can rent a boat on the lake, see a play at the Open Air Theatre, admire Queen Mary’s Rose gardens, use the facilities for football, softball, rugby and cricket, or just admire the view of London from Primrose Hill.

♥ If you are staying in our Camden Residence, this park is just a short walk away.

– Richmond Park: the largest London’s Royal Park. This National Nature Reserve offers a large number of activities: you can admire the 630 free deer and rare wildflower species, enjoy the great cycle paths, go horse-riding, see the magical Isabella Plantation, go fishing or play golf on the two courses.

– Victoria Park: London’s first public park, it won the Green Flag and Green Heritage Awards5 years in a row. You can explore the canals, swim in the ponds, take a tree-covered walk, play tennis or cricket, see the war memorial or go fishing in the lake.

♥ If you are staying in our Cambridge Heath Residence, this park is just a short walk away.

– Crystal Palace Park: used to be a Victorian Pleasure Ground. One of the main attraction of this park is the 5 five dinosaur sculptures that lurk among the trees. You can also relax on the Italian terraces, look for your way out in the maze, listen to one of the concerts or admire the bust of Sir Joseph Paxton.

– Battersea Park: famous South-London Park. You can take a stroll along the grand riverside promenade, admire the Peace Pagoda, go to the Battersea Children’s Zoo, rent a boat on the lake, use the fitness centre or do some sport (cricket, football, softball, lacrosse, rugby pitch)

– Bushy Park: second largest of London’s Royal Parks. You can rest near the lake or streams, admire the park’s wildlife (deer and pheasants), ride a bicycle, go horse-riding, admire Diana fountain or just take a nice drink at the Pheasantry Café.

– Clapham Common: one of London’s largest flat open spaces. You can run on the grass, assist to a one-day festival, have a nice picnic near the ponds, do some skateboarding, drink at one of the cosy pubs or play tennis in a court.

Enjoy the sunshine!
