Why we created UK Student Residences
UK Student Residences grew out of our experience running London Homestays, a homestay accommodation service for international students. Year after year, students contacted us looking not just for homestays, but for purpose-built student residences — and they were frustrated by the options available.
Most platforms either listed thousands of unvetted properties or were tied to specific providers. There was no independent, curated directory where students could compare quality residences side by side, with honest information about locations, prices, and what to expect.
So in 2010, we launched UK Student Residences — a free, impartial platform that connects international students with quality-checked student accommodation across the UK.
Students needed clear, impartial help
Comparing residences, understanding locations, reading honest reviews — without pressure from commission-driven platforms.
Residences needed a direct route to students
Bypass aggregator fees, reach genuine student enquiries, and showcase what makes each residence unique.
Who we are
UK Student Residences is part of Home from Home Student Services Ltd, founded in 2007 to support international students coming to the UK. We launched our first brand, London Homestays, in 2009, followed by UK Student Residences in 2010, and UK Study English shortly after. Together, the group has helped place over 10,000 students into accommodation and English language courses across the UK.
