The residence is centrally located, so you’ll be right next to all the essential places. It is an easy walk to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff University or the Cardiff Metropolitan University. Located just off Blackweir Fields, the residence is within easy reach of a good choice of student bars and restaurants – so you’ll never be short of things to see and do.
There are two local student pubs on offer just a stone’s throw from the residence; The North Star and the Blackweir Tavern, which has lots of affordable drinks and meals for less than £10.00. The North Star is a cool and quirky place with good quality food and drink. Alternatively, the Uni Kitchen also has some tasty options for food. It is run for students, by students – so you know they just ‘get’ whatever it is you want.
Take a trip back in time and learn about the history and evolution of Wales at the National Museum Cardiff. The museum has an interesting collection of fine art from over 500 years ago. Other places you might also like to visit include Cardiff Castle, which is less than 10 minutes away by bus and is surrounded by the beautiful natural scenery of Bute Park. This is a great spot for taking a break from studying and having some fun outdoors in the sunshine.
To watch live performances and entertainment, Principality Stadium is a popular attraction amongst students, so whether it’s a football match or your favourite band, you’re sure to find something to enjoy.
For eating out, the city centre has a wide selection of restaurants including Pizza Express, Bill’s Nando’s, Cosy Club and the very popular student spot – TGI Friday’s – so you’ll never be stuck for options. For amazing coffee be sure to check out HogWurst; it’s the perfect place for a study session or if you’re in need of a coffee hit before a long day of lectures.
The residence has 410 rooms which are a combination of Classic and Premium en-suites. Both en-suite rooms have your own bathroom in the room which offers you plenty of privacy. Residents have access to a fully fitted kitchen with a large living area which you would share with between 3–5 of your fellow flatmates. Whilst both en-suite rooms have the same facilities within the rooms, if you want that little bit of extra space then the Premium en-suite may be the room for you!
If you need a break from the scenery of your room then there is a large common room which is kitted out with plenty of activities, such as a pool table and foosball table, for you to just sit back and relax and just chill.
So your parents aren’t around to do your laundry for you, however, there are laundry facilities on-site for you to use with quick and easy step-by-step instructions for you to get clean clothes! Don’t worry if you struggle the first time though, the reception team will be more than happy to point you in the right direction where anything is concerned during your stay so you are confident and comfortable.
If anything goes wrong in your room, from a lightbulb going to something more dramatic; then just give the on-site maintenance team a call where an experienced member of staff will be able to sort it for you quickly and at a time that works best for you too!
Not only will you find your guardian residence angels monitoring the residence by CCTV 24 hours a day; when the reception staff have left for the day then you will always find a friendly face with security in place of them! The safety of the students is the residences number one priority, so you will always find 24 hours staff presence on-site 365 days of the year!
